Military-grade encryption for your documents

AES-256-GCM Encryption

Every file is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before leaving your browser. The algorithm trusted by governments and militaries worldwide.

Zero-Knowledge Architecture

Encryption keys are derived from your password and never sent to the server. We have no way to decrypt your documents.

Key Derivation

Keys are derived using PBKDF2 with a high iteration count. Brute-forcing your password is computationally infeasible.

Encrypted Storage

Documents are stored encrypted at rest on the server. Even a full server compromise cannot expose your file contents.

MFA Support

Add an authenticator app as a second factor. Your account stays secure even if your password is compromised.

Auto-Delete Files

Files are automatically purged after the retention window. Anonymous uploads are deleted within 2 hours.

How secure PDF editing works

1

Upload (encrypted automatically)

Drag and drop your PDF. The browser encrypts it with AES-256-GCM before the file leaves your device.

2

Edit securely

All editing happens within the encrypted session. Annotations, text changes, and redactions are applied in the browser.

3

Download (decrypted locally)

Your edited PDF is decrypted in the browser and downloaded directly to your device. Nothing is stored unencrypted.

Frequently asked questions

What does end-to-end encryption mean for PDF editing?
Your PDF is encrypted in your browser before it leaves your device. The server stores only encrypted data and cannot read your file contents.
Can RedaktPDF staff see my documents?
No. With end-to-end encryption enabled, the encryption key exists only in your browser. Nobody — including RedaktPDF — can access the unencrypted content.
Is encryption available on the free plan?
End-to-end encryption is available to all registered users, including free accounts. Anonymous uploads use server-side encryption.
